155 - Pursue a More Purposeful Life

I dive into a topic that I believe is essential to living a fulfilling and purposeful life. We all have goals and dreams, but it's easy to get sidetracked by the distractions that surround us every day. I share some insights from the book "Things That Matter" by Joshua Becker.

The book is all about finding what truly matters in life and how to avoid the things that hold us back. One of my favorite takeaways is the importance of committing to a daily mantra. It's a simple but powerful way to focus on what's important and stay motivated. Small steps will help us avoid distractions and get closer to our purpose.

But it's not just about focusing on ourselves. We also need to find our greater purpose and how we can serve others. That's where the concept of "Ikigai" comes in. By finding the intersection of our skills, passions, and the needs of others, we can make a positive impact and find true fulfillment.

Jill McKinley

I’m Jill from the Northwoods. Professionally, I work in Health IT, where I untangle complex systems and help people use technology more effectively. But at heart, I’m a curious lifelong learner—always exploring how things work, why people grow the way they do, and how even the smallest steps can spark real transformation. That curiosity fuels everything I do, from problem-solving at work to sharing insights through my creative projects.

My journey wasn’t always easy. Growing up, I faced a rough childhood, and books became my lifeline. They introduced me to voices of ancient wisdom, modern psychology, and the natural world around me. Those pages taught me resilience, gave me perspective, and helped me see that wisdom is everywhere—waiting to be noticed, gathered, and shared.
