83 - Are You Having Fun?

83 - Are You Having Fun?

I review the book called "Are You Having Fun?" by Catherine Price. It opened my eyes to the importance of true fun and how we can identify and prioritize activities that bring us joy. Price talks about how distractions like technology can have a negative impact on our ability to have fun and encourages us to create space in our schedules for it.

She breaks down true fun into three elements: playfulness, connection with others, and flow. It's important to identify our "fun magnets" - the things that bring us true joy - and prioritize those activities. Price also warns against mistaking novelty or rewards for true fun and emphasizes the importance of play in our lives.

Overall, this book gives a new perspective on how I approach fun and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to add more joy to their lives!

Jill McKinley

I’m Jill from the Northwoods. Professionally, I work in Health IT, where I untangle complex systems and help people use technology more effectively. But at heart, I’m a curious lifelong learner—always exploring how things work, why people grow the way they do, and how even the smallest steps can spark real transformation. That curiosity fuels everything I do, from problem-solving at work to sharing insights through my creative projects.

My journey wasn’t always easy. Growing up, I faced a rough childhood, and books became my lifeline. They introduced me to voices of ancient wisdom, modern psychology, and the natural world around me. Those pages taught me resilience, gave me perspective, and helped me see that wisdom is everywhere—waiting to be noticed, gathered, and shared.
